On the morning of November 17, foreign students from the School of Economics of Changzhou University came to the Diaozhuang Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall in Tianning District to learn and experience the national intangible cultural heritage - Changzhou Green Bamboo Carving. More than ten international students from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Uganda, Zimbabwe and other countries have experienced the skills of bamboo carving.

Xu Min, Deputy Secretary-General of Jiangsu Provincial Bamboo Carving Research Association and the inheritor of Changzhou intangible cultural heritage, firstly introduced the skills of bamboo carving to international students, and led them to visit the historical and cultural exhibition hall and appreciate the exquisite bamboo carving. Students held up their mobile phones to record wonderful bamboo carving works. Then, they came to the experience area of bamboo carving. Under the guidance of the teaching assistant, they made their own bamboo carving works with the word “Luck”(). Martha from Uganda said excitedly that she must finish this work well and bring it back to her country to her relatives. Teachers there also taught students how to use the knife to cut the edge and shovel the bottom of the bamboo. The bamboo ribs on the bottom should be basically straight, and the gap in the middle should be the same depth.

This activity shows the achievements of the national intangible cultural heritage to foreign students, which enables them to accept the influence of Chinese art in the exchange of different cultural elements, stimulate their interest in Chinese traditional culture and enhance their love for China. The event was tracked and reported by the media. (Di Jing/ editor Shi Xueqin/Translator Jiang Hong/reviewer)
